Our Process · How a Nordic Project Runs

A Clear Six-Step Path to a Better Home

The scariest part of a renovation is not knowing what happens next. So here is exactly what happens next, every step, every decision, every promise, before you spend a dollar on construction.

Renovations Don't Fail in Construction. They Fail in Planning.

Blown budgets, surprise change orders, timelines that never end, almost every renovation horror story traces back to the same root cause: construction started before the plan was finished.

Our process is built to make that impossible. Design, selections, pricing, and permits are locked before the first hammer swings. That's why our final proposals typically land very close to the original estimate, and why our clients sleep fine during construction.

From First Call to Final Walk-Through

1
Schedule a Discovery Call

You book a call that fits your calendar and tell us about your home, your goals, and your budget range. We ask the questions that matter and answer yours honestly, including whether we're the right fit for your project. What you walk away with: clarity on whether your project makes sense for Nordic, with zero pressure either way.

2
On-Site Consultation

Yeti visits your home, walks the space with you, and looks at what your walls, structure, and systems will actually allow. You get expert eyes on your project before you commit to anything. What you walk away with: a realistic ballpark estimate, shortly after the visit, not weeks later.

3
Design Agreement & Detailed Proposal

With a design agreement in place, the real work starts. Our in-house design team develops your layout, guides every selection, cabinetry, fixtures, materials, finishes, and builds full 3D renderings so you can stand inside your finished space before it exists. Bringing your own designer or architect? We'll build from their plans. It all rolls into one detailed, fixed-price proposal. What you walk away with: a complete design you've seen in 3D, and a fixed price that typically lands very close to the ballpark.

4
Preconstruction

We pull the permits, order materials, schedule the trades, and lock the calendar. You'll know who's coming, when, and what happens each phase, before anyone shows up. What you walk away with: a real schedule and zero open questions on day one of construction.

5
Construction

Our crew and vetted trade partners get to work, behind dust barriers and floor protection, on a job site cleaned daily. Your on-site project manager runs quality control; your project coordinator keeps schedules and updates flowing; the owner stays involved. Every week, you get an update on what was accomplished and what's next, in your Buildertrend portal and your project group text. What you walk away with: progress you can see, updates you don't have to chase, and a home your family can still live in.

6
Final Walk-Through & Hand-Off

We walk the finished project together, room by room, detail by detail. Anything that isn't right goes on the punch list and gets resolved. We're not done until you love it. What you walk away with: the space you saw in the renderings, real, finished, and yours.

You'll Never Wonder What's Happening in Your Own Home

Proactive communication prevents surprises, you'll be informed before you need to ask. Three systems make that automatic:

Your Buildertrend Portal

Schedules, progress photos, selections, documents, and messages, your whole project in one place, updated weekly, available any time.

Your Project Group Text

One thread connects you with your project coordinator, on-site project manager, office admin, and the owner. Ask anything; someone who knows the answer is always there.

Weekly Updates

Every week: what was accomplished, what's coming, and what (if anything) needs your decision. No radio silence, ever.

Changes Happen. Surprises Don't.

Sometimes you'll fall in love with a different tile mid-project. Sometimes a wall hides something no one could see. Here's how we handle both: any larger change is documented, priced, and approved by you, in writing, before work proceeds. Smaller requests are often handled quickly to keep momentum. Because we're a fixed-price contractor, every approved change is reconciled transparently. You will never open an invoice and find a number you've never seen before.

Common Questions About the Process

How long will my remodel take? +
It depends on scope, selections, permitting, and complexity, so instead of guessing, we give you a realistic schedule before construction begins, built during preconstruction. What we can promise: you'll know your timeline before we start, and you'll hear about any changes to it immediately, not after the fact.
Can we live in our home during construction? +
In many cases, yes, we'll determine what's realistic during planning. Dust barriers, floor protection, containment systems, and daily site cleanup are standard on every project, and we plan around kids, pets, and work-from-home schedules.
When do we finalize design decisions? +
Before construction, that's the point of Step 3. Changes are welcome throughout the design phase; once building begins, any change goes through the documented change-order process so your price and schedule stay honest.
